Location: Poste Lafayette on the East Coast of Mauritius.

Overview

My Client, an international hotel group operating a luxury boutique resort in Mauritius, is seeking a highly organised and service-oriented Human Resources Assistant to support the day-to-day functioning of a dynamic HR department within a hospitality operational environment.

This role is ideal for a detail-driven HR professional who enjoys administration, employee interaction, and contributing to a positive workplace culture while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across HR processes.

Important Note for Applicants: this position is not an Ex-Pat position and is only open to Mauritian Nationals / Citizens.

The Role

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Assistant will provide essential administrative and operational support across recruitment, onboarding, HR recordkeeping, employee relations, payroll input, and compliance.

You will be a key point of contact for employees while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of HR systems and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruitment administration including job postings, application screening, and interview scheduling
  • Prepare offer letters, contracts, and new hire documentation
  • Facilitate structured and professional onboarding and induction processes

HR Administration & Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records (digital and physical)
  • Update HR systems with promotions, salary changes, and employment amendments
  • Compile HR reports and statistics (new hires, exits, training records)

Employee Relations & Support

  • Respond to routine HR queries and escalate when necessary
  • Support the consistent application of policies and procedures
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and internal communications

Benefits & Payroll Support

  • Assist with administration of benefits, leave records, and pension schemes
  • Validate time and attendance data for payroll processing

Compliance & General HR Support

  • Support compliance with labour laws and statutory documentation
  • Assist the HR Manager with training coordination, performance review cycles, surveys, and HR improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Previous administrative experience essential
  • Hospitality industry exposure advantageous
  • Applicants must have English and French language proficiency – essential

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range:
MUR 30,000 – MUR 35,000 gross per month (negotiable)
