About the Role:
Wipe-It, a leading manufacturer in the hygiene products industry, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Machine Operator to join our dynamic production team in Samrand. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in toilet paper converting and a strong mechanical aptitude. You will be responsible for the efficient operation, setup, and maintenance of our advanced converting machinery, playing a key role in our commitment to quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform complete machine setup, calibration, and operation of toilet paper converting equipment (e.g., slitters, rewinders, embossers, cutters).
• Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure all products meet strict production standards and specifications.
• Troubleshoot machine faults, diagnose production inefficiencies, and perform basic mechanical and electrical repairs to minimize downtime.
• Efficiently manage product changeovers on automated production lines using HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems.
• Strictly adhere to all workplace safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, and maintain high hygiene standards for paper products.
• Collaborate effectively with the production team to ensure a smooth, continuous workflow and clear communication.
Minimum Requirements:
• Education: A Matric certificate with a minimum of 50% in Mathematical Literacy and 50% in English (Second Language or equivalent).
• Technical Education: Equivalent N-level qualifications in Mechanical and/or Electrical subjects are highly preferred.
• Work Experience:
~ A minimum of 5 years of machine operator experience in one of the applicable industries listed below.
~ Crucially, this must include a minimum of 3 years of direct experience as a machine operator in toilet paper converting.
• Location: Must reside within a 30km radius of Samrand (including areas like Olievenhoutbosch, Tembisa, etc.).
• Transport: Must have access to reliable daily transport (e.g., own vehicle, bus, taxi, lift club).
• Background: Must have a clear criminal record.
• Language: Must be proficient in English.

Required Technical Skills & Knowledge:
• Mechanical/Electrical: Strong understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including air cylinders, solenoid valves, belts, gears, pulleys, chains, electric motors, and AC/DC circuitry.
• Machine Proficiency: Proven ability to operate, set up, and troubleshoot converting machines.
• Technical Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret machine manuals, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent diagnostic skills to identify and resolve machine faults and production issues quickly.
• Physical Fitness: This role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods, handle materials, and perform manual tasks. Candidates must be physically fit to meet the operational requirements.
