Education and Experience

  •     Matric
  •     B Degree Human Resources/ Industrial Psychology (essential)
  •     Certificate in Payroll management/reward and recognition (preferred)
  •     Certificate in Labour Relations/Employee Relations
  •     Microsoft Office
  •     5 yrs HR Advisory & Operational Management required on supervisory   level
  •     5 years Payroll and Benefits required on supervisory level
  •     3 years Project and Change Management required on operational level
  •     3 years policy design required on operational level

 Department : Human Resources GBSC SA (Sandton) reporting to Senior HR Manager

Purpose

A Human Resource specialist providing day to day operational support to both the GBSC and the local SA Law Firm Sandton practice in all aspects related to payroll, local reward and recognition practices, people development practices, employee wellness, HR policy and process design, people change management as well as advisory and risk management practices

Working hours

9:00am to 17:30pm; Monday to Friday, additional hours may be required from time to time.

Key Accountabilities

Payroll , Reward and Recognition

  • Take overall accountability for the GSBC and Legal practice payroll operations, including day to day management, accuracy and effectiveness of all aspects of payroll management
  • Act as subject matter expert in all aspects of remuneration ( fixed, variable and statutory aspects) and payroll management within
  • Actively research and advise on local best practices related to employee reward and recognition.
  • Support local leadership with the annual increase and bonus pay-round ensuring alignment with Global practices and implementation methodologies
  • Proactive management payroll vendor ensuring adherence to service level agreements, accuracy of all statutory and business requirements specific to the local practice and GBSC,
  • Design and implement robust analytics and management information enabling decision-making around payroll, reward and recognition practices
  • Continuously review benefits structures ensuring competitiveness within the South African environment
  • Support leadership with headcount and capacity planning enabling accurate budgeting and cost management practices

HR Operations

  • Provide administrative direction to the local HR administrators as required ensuring robust recordings management
  • Support local leadership with the management of study assistance programmes and ensuring appropriate selection criteria and contractual commitments
  • Manage and advise on all operational aspects of the different employee contracts and ensure effective implementation of contractual obligation in effort to mitigate people and financial risk
  • Support local HR management with the identification of people risk, effective control identification and continuous review of the risk
  • Monitoring contractual end dates and liaising with managers to agree and arrange appropriate actions

Organisational Effectiveness

  • Analysing performance review statistics and identifying any training/mentoring needs/requests.
  • Develop and implement coaching and mentoring best practices enabling mature leadership practices
  • Take overall accountability for the effective change management and people aspects of all project executed across the GBSC and the legal practice, enabling effective change adoption
  • Act as project owner and key driver of all local people projects ensuring effective engagement, communication and implementation

Advisory and Risk Management

  • Providing advice and support to management on a range of HR matters, including terms and conditions of employment, absenteeism management, employee wellness practices
  • Act as overall custodian for all local people policies, ensuring accuracy and relevance through continuous improvement practices
  • Act as go to person in all people related firm’s policies and processes.
  • Ensure timeous responses to GBSC and practice employees on a range of HR matters through the active management and trend analysis of the HR support contact channels ( i.e. HR inboxes)
  • Monitoring of overtime and agile working condition through robust reporting, whilst working with relevant managers to ensure fair labour practices and capacity planning
  • Monitoring sickness absence levels from absence reports and working closely with the relevant managers and the firm’s Occupational Health Adviser to manage sickness absence cases, including long term sickness claims.
  • Support local leadership in all aspects relating to appropriate disciplinary and grievance protocol ensuring adherence to aspects of procedural and substantive fairness
  • Act Employee relation representative at local labour councils ensuring the reputational integrity of the employer remain above reproach
