Job Overview

Excellent Electrical Projects is looking for a qualified and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their team on a 24-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting and repair of diesel-powered vehicles, machinery and equipment.

You must have the following – please do not apply if you do not have this requirements –
Applicants must hold a National Diploma Equivalent (N6).
Applicants must have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience, as evidenced by the date on their trade test certificate.

Key Responsibilities
Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on diesel-powered equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on diesel engines and machinery.
Conduct inspections and identify potential mechanical problems.
Carry out breakdown repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
Repair and replace faulty mechanical components and systems.
Perform engine overhauls and repairs where required.
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
Ensure all tools, equipment and machinery are maintained in good working condition.
Conduct safety checks and ensure equipment complies with safety requirements.
Assist with the installation, commissioning and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
Follow all company health, safety and environmental procedures.
Work effectively with the maintenance and technical teams.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
Recognised Diesel Mechanic Trade Test.
Relevant technical qualification will be advantageous.
Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, mechanical systems and equipment.
Experience with fault-finding, servicing and preventative maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical diagrams.
Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s licence would be advantageous.
