PHP Laravel/SQL Developer

A multinational company that manufactures and markets specialty coatings, sealants, building materials, and related services, is seeking an experienced PHP Laravel Developer with strong SQL skills to join their expanding applications development and integrations team – Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban

Responsibilities:

  • Development & Integration: Assist in developing, maintaining, and supporting integrations between Microsoft D365 Business Central, our central PHP/Laravel system (The Hub), and various microservices.

  • Data & Reporting: Facilitate the export of structured management, analytical, and reporting data to external 3rd-party systems and other RPM Group companies.

  • Collaboration & Innovation: Partner with IT team members and business leads to design and implement new features, evolving from maintaining existing systems to building new solutions.

  • Code Quality: Write clean, efficient, robust, secure, and well-documented code. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

  • Testing & Quality Control: Create robust test plans, coordinate and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and lead stakeholder demonstrations.

  • Support & Debugging: Troubleshoot issues post-deployment and provide 2nd-line support for PHP development issues escalated via ServiceNow.

Minimum Requirements:

  • PHP & Frameworks: 3+ years of commercial PHP development experience, specifically with MVC frameworks (ideally Laravel/Eloquent).

  • Databases: Solid understanding of database querying and development (SQL Server, MySQL).

  • APIs & Integration: Experience working with APIs and using testing tools like Postman.

  • Front-End: Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Tools & Methodologies: Experience with code versioning/planning tools (Git, Azure DevOps) and agile development workflows.

  • ERP Knowledge: Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or other ERP systems is highly preferred.

  • Design Patterns: Strong understanding of software design patterns and architectural principles.

  • Qualifications & Preferences

    • Education: Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).

    • Nice-to-Have: Experience in eCommerce environments.
