Brief Description
We are seeking a Bakery Technical Support Specialist to visit our milling customers and provide on-site baking support, troubleshooting, training, and product optimization. The role ensures customers achieve consistent quality with our flours and mixes, gathers feedback for continuous improvement, and partners with Sales and QA to drive customer satisfaction and retention.

Minimum Requirements
• 3–5+ years hands-on bakery experience in commercial/industrial or artisan settings (bread, rolls, buns; preferably also sweet doughs)
• Demonstrated success standardizing recipes and processes across different equipment and environments
• Experience conducting bakery trials, scaling formulas, and resolving product defects (volume, crumb, crust, shelf life)
• Customer-facing or field support experience preferred (demos, training, or technical sales support)

Qualifications Required
• Formal baking qualification/certification or diploma in Baking Technology, Food Science, or related field
• HACCP/GMP awareness; food safety and hygiene training
• Advantageous: SAAFOST/SA Chamber of Baking or equivalent memberships; sensory evaluation training

KPI’s
• Technical Troubleshooting: First-time-fix rate for issues; documented root cause and corrective actions closed within target timeline
• Recipe and Process Optimization: Implement optimized formulas and process parameters (hydration, mixing energy, dough temp, proofing profile, bake curve) with measured performance gains
• Collaboration and Feedback: Provide timely technical reports to QA/R&D/Sales; track product improvement suggestions and outcomes
• Compliance and Hygiene: Adherence to customer site rules, GMP/HACCP practices; zero safety incidents
• Coverage and Responsiveness: Visit frequency compliance by tier; response time to support requests; on-time completion of planned demos and trials
• Education and Content: Develop and deliver training materials, SOPs, and quick-reference guides; number of staff trained and competency uplift
• Cost and Efficiency: Optimize trial resource use; manage travel within budget; achieve targeted visit-to-impact ratio (retention/upsell leads generated)
• Relationship Health: Increase customer retention and product usage; identify cross-sell opportunities and hand off qualified leads to Sales
