BAKERY TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST (FIELD BAKER)
Location: Western Cape (Cape Town Based)

Are you a passionate baker with a knack for troubleshooting and training? Join a dynamic team as a Bakery Technical Support Specialist, where your hands-on expertise will help milling customers achieve consistent, high-quality results with our flours and mixes. You’ll be the go-to baking expert—on-site, in the field, and at the heart of customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Do:
• Visit bakeries to provide technical support, training & product optimization
• Conduct trials, scale formulas & resolve product issues (volume, crumb, crust, shelf life)
• Partner with Sales, QA & R&D to improve product performance & customer retention
• Deliver training, SOPs & quick-reference guides to uplift bakery teams
• Gather feedback for continuous improvement & innovation
What You Bring:
– 3–5+ years bakery experience (commercial, industrial, or artisan)
– Strong baking science knowledge (fermentation, hydration, mixing, baking curves)
– Recipe/process standardization across diverse equipment
– Customer-facing experience (demos, training, technical support)
– Diagnostic skills to troubleshoot flour variability, yeast activity, dough temp & more
– Valid driver’s license & willingness to travel
Qualifications:
• Formal baking certification or diploma in Baking Technology, Food Science, etc.
• HACCP/GMP awareness & hygiene training
• Bonus: SAAFOST/SA Chamber of Baking membership; sensory evaluation training
Tech Skills:
• MS Excel (trial logs, KPIs)
• MS Word/PowerPoint (reports, training decks)
Key Performance Indicators:
• Customer satisfaction & training impact
• Product consistency & complaint reduction
• First-time-fix rate & root cause resolution
• Recipe/process optimization with measurable gains
• Hygiene & safety compliance
• Visit coverage, responsiveness & cost efficiency
• Relationship health & upsell lead generation
