Manager in Forestry Operations

Job Description:

  • Manage forestry production workflows by identifying constraints in harvesting, transportation, and road infrastructure while seeking opportunities for enhancing production efficiency.
  • Extract pertinent information and data from harvesting, transport, and road operations to optimize output.
  • Analyze production metrics, compile reports, and provide improvement recommendations to senior management.
  • Utilize statistical methods to dissect multifaceted production data and elevate the analysis within the business context.
  • Generate monthly reports for management, highlighting key findings and evaluations.
  • Enhance operational management systems, processes, and implement best practices.
  • Conduct quality control measures and oversee short and long-term production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Devise strategies to elevate customer service quality.
  • Monitor and manage production trends on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma in Forestry. An MSc in Forestry is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ extensive production-oriented experience in Forestry operations (including Silviculture and Harvesting).
  • At least 5 out of the 15 years should involve senior management or business unit-level responsibilities, showcasing financial control, budgeting, and result reporting expertise.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in budgeting and cost control.
  • Advanced Excel skills for managing extensive datasets (including pivots, dashboards, and data analysis).
  • Competency in project management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of Forestry operations and processes in both Harvesting and Silviculture.
  • Knowledgeable in safety and risk management.
