Job Summary: A renowned International Independent Consultancy Company, situated in Woodstock, Cape Town, seeks a Project Architect (Design Process Manager) to provide specialized design management services to architectural firms. This role specifically focuses on coordinating and strategizing complex design processes within global projects.
Please Note: This position does not involve design work, construction phase participation, or IT software delivery.
The Role: This role involves offering support to architectural firms, ensuring efficient project delivery, aiding in project setup and quality assurance, serving as the primary liaison with Architects, cultivating client relationships, mentoring team members, and providing day-to-day guidance.
Responsibilities: Key responsibilities encompass various design management activities, including:
- Assisting Architects in project administration
- Managing communication between the design team and clients
- Overseeing progress reporting
- Offering strategic guidance when necessary
- Structuring and planning the design process for collaborative outcomes
- Delivering high-quality service and garnering positive client feedback
- Producing accurate and high-quality documentation and consultancy services supporting architects in design competitions
- Proactively engaging with project teams, ensuring information exchange and task monitoring
- Effectively managing and prioritizing workload
- Serving as an ambassador for the Company
Requirements/Qualities:
- Background in architecture or some experience in architecture/design (although this is not a design-centric role)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in architecture/design with a solid understanding of design processes
- Professional and adept at managing priorities and working under pressure
- Proficient in client interaction and presentation with strong communication skills
- Familiarity or knowledge of RIBA stages (or similar) is advantageous
- Eager to learn, proactive, considerate, tactful, and skilled in relationship building
- Strategic thinker with a broad perspective and commercial awareness
- Positive attitude, motivator, and keen attention to detail
