Purpose
The Overall purpose of the role is to translate and implement the GBSC and Legal Firms Human Resource strategic and operational business plans, in line with industry best practice and prevailing legislation, across multiple specialist Human Resource disciplines
Reporting structure:
Director of HR- People ( UK), matrix reporting to Head of GBSC Johannesburg and Firm Leadership
Min requirements:
- Matric
- B Degree Human Resources/ Industrial Psychology (essential)
- Master degree in Human Resource discipline or MBL/MBA (preferred)
- 8 years Human Resource Functional and Operational Management
- 3 years Human Resources Strategy Management
- Microsoft Office
Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of centralised/ share services environment
- Expert understanding of business processes.
- Basic understanding of Project Management
- Expert understanding of industry trends and best practices
- Expert in providing analytical trends and management information
- Advanced ability to influence to senior stakeholder level
- Advanced negotiation skills
- Knowledge of Risk management principles and practices
- Advanced commercial awareness
- Deep understanding of all Firm policies and procedure
- Ability to deal with matrix management environment

Working hours
9:00am to 17:30pm; Monday to Friday, additional hours may be required from time to time.

Accountabilities
Organisational Effectiveness
- Take overall accountability for the GSBC and Legal Firms employee value proposition design and implementation
- Actively position and implement Global firm practices and processes ensuring appropriate alignment and standardisation taking cognizance of local legislation and nuances
- Support local management with the optimal Organisational structure for exceptional service delivery taking cognizance of individual business function strategic objectives, business requirements and planning practices
- Design and implement robust analytics and management information enabling decision-making around people practices
- Proactively manage key stakeholder relationship, ensuring parity and equitability across all functions within the GBSC and Legal Firm
- Actively enable and support the firm Culture through visible leadership and proactive driving of key values and principles
- Take overall ownership of the people change component of all local projects and initiatives ensuring holistic adoption.
- Drive all people related projects/ initiatives through planning to implementation and adoption.
- Proactive management of the GBSC HR team providing guidance, support, engagement and motivation.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Proactively drive all recruitment activities within the GBSC and Legal Firm in a timeous and cost effective manner ensuring minimum disruption to service delivery.
- Establish, contract and maintain a highly effective recruitment panel ensuring adherence to Firms protocols and policies in line with agreed Service Level Agreements
- Drive accurate projection of Headcount numbers and recruitment related cost
- Ensure appropriate screening of all candidates through the implementation of effective assessment tools
- Ensuring relevant role profiles and job descriptions are in place and maintained in line with the business requirements
- Identify Key value roles and Critical skills enabling proactive pipeline management and augmented employment models such as interns and learners programs
- Design and implement a holistic onboarding program for all new employees
Advisory and Risk Management
- Oversee the People management strategy, agenda and operations of the GBSC and Firm ensuring the effective running of all HR related operations
- Continuously review the Human Resource related risk profile and practice ensuring the effective risk mitigation strategies, identification of key risk areas , the reporting detailing the monitoring and controlling
- Act as subject matter expert in all aspect relating to the Firms people management practices and policies, industry trends and best practices ensuring these aspects are continuously adopted and remain current.
- Continuously review and enhance the Employee Value Proposition ensuring relevance and competitiveness within the legal and shared services industry
- Develop, implement and monitor the adoption of effective consequence management practices and all aspects of employee relations enabling the restriction of legal reputation risk at the local council for mediation and arbitration ( CCMA) and labour court
Talent Management, Succession planning, Learning and Development
- Implement and drive performance management practice and coordinate performance reviews across functions with the GBSC and Firm as per the performance management cycle.
- Coach and mentor management in all aspects pertaining to performance and talent management as well succession planning and the identification of Key value roles
- Drive and execute the retention strategy of the GBSC and Firm through the creation of role related career paths, mobility planning and the identification of development initiatives
- Through continuous evaluation and review identify key Learning and development initiatives and programs

- Design and implement effective governance structures for all compensation decision making
- Take ownership and accountability for the payroll function in its entirety ensuring best of breed application of people practices and legislative aspects pertaining to compensation
