What Not To Do?

  • Body Language

The way you project you body might speak more than the words you actually say, nevertheless you should never fold your arms, slouch, fidget, show yourself hesitant or closed on a job interview as it might ruin your chances. Your posture must show positiveness and interest on what is being asked by the interviewer.

  • Avoid Passiveness

Don’t be too passive in a Job Interview, show that you are interested by asking few questions during the interview. Your questions can be to clarify doubts concerning the position you have applied for or it may be follow up question. It is important to keep the interview as close as possible to a dialogue.

  • Don’t skip the Homework

Never go to a job interview without a previous research about the company. It will help you to prepare yourself to answer key questions and to reveal your knowledge in a surprising way.

  • Comments

Don’t wait until the end of the interview to share your comments or ask questions, be confident and show initiative by sharing some comments along the interview and showing how interested you are in the company’s industry sector. That is why it is so important to do a previous research about the company.

  • Don’t Lose Focus

Do not divert from the interviewer topic, stay focused and use the addressed topic to highlight your qualities and abilities which can contribute to the company’s growth.

  • Past Successes

Don’t relay on your past accomplishments. Only mention your past successes to emphasize how it could add some value to your next position in the company.

  • Never lie

Pretending to have skills or lying about your previous experiences may put your chances into jeopardy, the best solution is to be honest with the interviewer and highlight your positive qualities and abilities to overdue the negative points.

  • Past Employers

Never criticize a past employer, avoid speaking badly about him even if he is a competitor to the company. Keep your answers as diplomatic as possible and use this opportunity to say about the abilities you have acquired that will contribute to the success of your next employer.

  • Don’t Panic

Don not demonstrate how nervous you might be, keep cool and never rush to answer. Remember that you can’t take back whatever you say, so be relaxed or at least behave as you are.

  • Dress Code

The interview is the first opportunity you have to present a good image of yourself, therefore never dress totally casual for an interview, always dress better than you think you should. To avoid mistakes choose to wear moderately formal for the occasion.
